Terms & conditions

We compare products and, when you ask, we introduce you to the institution that offers them. We do not lend, we do not underwrite and we do not advise. These terms set out exactly where our responsibility begins and where it ends.

Last updated Effective from Version 4.0

The agreement in full

Terms of use in full

Plain English wherever the law allows it. Where a clause has to be technical, we have said in the first sentence what it actually means.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

YouBankingBuddy.com is owned and operated by Catalyst Web Trendz Pvt. Ltd., a company incorporated in India with its registered office at D 29, 2nd Floor, Greater Kailash Enclave 2, Greater Kailash, New Delhi – 110048 (“YouBankingBuddy”, “we”, “us”, “our”). References to “you” are to any person who accesses, browses or submits information through the platform.

These terms govern your use of the website www.youbankingbuddy.com, every comparison page, table and article on it, the EMI, SIP, interest and eligibility calculators, our enquiry, callback and newsletter forms, and any correspondence you have with us by email, telephone or WhatsApp. They should be read together with our Privacy Policy and our Disclaimer, both of which are incorporated into these terms by reference.

These terms constitute an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, and do not require a physical or digital signature. We publish this platform in compliance with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing the platform, running a calculator, submitting an enquiry or subscribing to The Money Memo, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, please stop using the platform. Ticking the consent box on any form is an affirmative acceptance of these terms and of the Privacy Policy as they stand on the date of submission.

3. The nature of our service — comparison and referral only

This is the clause that defines everything else, so it is stated without hedging.

YouBankingBuddy is an independent comparison, information and lead-generation platform. We are not a bank, a non-banking financial company, a housing finance company, a payment system operator, a stock broker, a SEBI-registered investment adviser or research analyst, an IRDAI-licensed insurance agent, broker or web aggregator, and we are not an agent of any consumer.

Consequently, and without limitation, we do not:

  • lend money, sanction, disburse, restructure or recover any loan;
  • accept, hold, solicit or route deposits or client funds of any kind;
  • underwrite credit or insurance risk, or make any credit decision;
  • issue, service or settle any credit card, insurance policy or investment scheme;
  • provide investment advice, portfolio management, financial planning or a personal recommendation to buy, hold or sell any security or scheme;
  • guarantee, pre-approve or assure the approval, sanction, disbursal, limit, rate or timeline of any application; or
  • charge you any fee. Use of the platform is free to the consumer.

What we do is publish comparisons and explanatory content prepared by our research desk, and — only where you expressly ask us to — introduce your enquiry to one or more partner banks, NBFCs, insurers or asset management companies so that they may contact you directly. Every contract for a financial product is between you and that institution alone. Its application form, its sanction letter, its most important terms and conditions, its schedule of charges and its policy wording govern that relationship. We are not a party to it, we cannot vary it, and we cannot enforce it on your behalf.

4. How we are remunerated, and why it does not move the rankings

We do not charge consumers. We are paid by partner institutions. Where an enquiry we refer results in a completed application that is sanctioned or disbursed, or a policy that is issued, the partner pays us a referral or marketing fee, generally on a flat per-case basis. Some partners additionally pay a fixed monthly fee for listing and content maintenance.

Three safeguards apply to that arrangement, and we hold ourselves to them publicly:

  • Rankings are editorial. Comparison tables are ordered by the objective attribute named in the column header — interest rate, fee, minimum balance, cover amount — and never by what a partner pays. Commission is not an input to any sort, filter or default order.
  • The fee is flat within a product family. Because the fee we receive on a given product is the same across participating partners, there is no commercial incentive to steer you to one lender over another.
  • Paid placement is labelled. Anything that is sponsored, promoted or a paid feature carries a visible label. If it is not labelled, nobody paid for it.

The complete remuneration disclosure appears on our Disclaimer page and on About Us. It also appears in the standing disclosure in the footer of every page.

5. Eligibility and legal capacity

To submit an enquiry you must be at least 18 years of age, resident in India, and competent to contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. You must not be a person disqualified from contracting under any law in force in India, nor a person barred by a regulator or court from accessing financial services.

The platform is intended for use in India and its content is prepared with reference to Indian law and Indian products. If you access it from outside India, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law; nothing here is an offer or solicitation in any jurisdiction where such an offer would be unlawful.

You may not submit another person's details without that person's informed consent. Doing so is a breach of these terms and, potentially, of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

6. Accuracy of the information you give us

The value of a comparison depends entirely on the accuracy of what you type into it. You agree that all information you provide — income, employment type, existing obligations, age, city, amount sought — is true, current and complete, and that you will update us if it changes materially before your enquiry is closed.

Overstating income, understating existing EMIs or misdescribing employment does not improve your chances; the lender verifies everything at underwriting, and misstatement is a common cause of rejection. Furnishing false information to obtain credit may also amount to an offence under Indian law. We may decline to process, or may withdraw, any enquiry we reasonably believe to contain false, misleading or fraudulent information, and we may retain a record of it for fraud-prevention purposes.

If you create or hold an account or a saved-comparison profile on the platform, you are responsible for keeping its credentials confidential and for all activity under it. Tell us immediately at info@catalystwebtrendz.com if you suspect unauthorised use. We will never ask you for a password, an OTP, a card CVV or a UPI PIN — no one who does is from us.

7. Rates, fees and product information are indicative

All interest rates, processing fees, charges, premiums, returns, minimum balances, eligibility criteria, reward rates and offers displayed on the platform are indicative. They are compiled by our research desk from schedules published by the institutions concerned and from information supplied by our partners, and are stated as on the source date shown alongside them — presently across the site.

Indicative means, specifically:

  • Rates change, sometimes daily, and always without notice to us. The figure you see may already be out of date.
  • The rate you are actually offered depends on your credit score, income, employer category, loan-to-value, tenure, existing relationship with the institution and its prevailing credit policy. Headline rates are typically the lowest rate offered to the strongest profile, not an average.
  • Fees, taxes, statutory charges, insurance premiums and documentation costs may apply in addition to the figures shown.
  • Where our figures differ from the institution's own published terms, the institution's terms prevail — always. Verify before you act.

Nothing on the platform is an offer, an invitation to offer, a sanction, a pre-approval, a quotation or a commitment by us or by any institution.

8. Calculators and estimates

Our EMI, SIP, interest and eligibility calculators are educational tools. They run entirely inside your browser, store nothing and transmit nothing. Each applies a standard formula to the figures and assumed rates you enter, and each ignores real-world variables such as processing fees, insurance, statutory levies, prepayment, rate resets on floating-rate loans, exit loads, expense ratios and taxation.

A calculator output is an illustrative estimate, not an offer, a quotation, a sanction or a projection of actual returns. The eligibility checker applies a standard FOIR assumption to numbers you type in; it does not contact a lender or a credit bureau and it does not affect your credit score. SIP and investment outputs assume a constant rate of return that markets do not deliver in practice. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risk — read all scheme-related documents carefully; past performance does not indicate future returns.

We accept no liability for any decision taken solely on a calculator output. Ask the institution for an amortisation schedule or a formal illustration before you commit.

9. What happens after you submit an enquiry

When you submit an enquiry and tick the consent box, you authorise us to share the details of that enquiry with one or more partner institutions relevant to the product you selected, so that they may contact you about it. You also authorise us and those partners to contact you by telephone, SMS, email or WhatsApp in connection with the enquiry, notwithstanding any DND or Do Not Call registration you may hold, for the limited purpose and limited period described in our Privacy Policy.

We make no promise that any partner will contact you, make an offer, or make one within a particular time. The decision to lend, to issue a card, to underwrite a policy or to accept an investment is entirely and solely that of the institution, taken under its own credit, underwriting and KYC policies. A referral is not an application, and an application is not an approval.

You may ask us to stop referring your enquiry, or to withdraw consent, at any time under section 4 of the Privacy Policy. Once your details have reached a partner, that partner processes them as an independent Data Fiduciary under its own policy, and requests to it must be made to it directly.

10. No fiduciary, advisory or agency relationship

Nothing on the platform, and nothing said by a member of our team, creates a fiduciary, advisory, agency, trust, partnership, joint-venture or employment relationship between you and us. Our editorial content is general information addressed to the public at large; it takes no account of your particular objectives, financial situation, tax position or needs, and must not be treated as a personal recommendation.

Our team members — whom we call buddies — explain products, translate fine print and help you compare. They are not authorised to advise you on the suitability of an investment, to recommend a scheme, to promise a rate or an approval, or to negotiate terms with an institution on your behalf. Before investing, please consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser; before acting on tax or legal consequences, please consult a qualified professional.

11. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct

You agree to use the platform lawfully and in good faith. You must not:

  • impersonate another person, or submit a third party's contact or financial details without consent;
  • submit information that is false, misleading, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or unlawful under Indian law, or that infringes the intellectual property or privacy of another;
  • use the platform to further money laundering, terrorist financing, tax evasion, loan fraud, identity fraud or any other offence;
  • scrape, crawl, spider, harvest, mirror or systematically extract our comparison data, tables, editorial content or code by automated means, or reproduce them in a competing product;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform, its servers or connected systems, or probe, scan or test their vulnerability;
  • introduce a virus, worm, logic bomb or other harmful code, or interfere with the platform's operation or availability;
  • remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trademark, source-date or disclaimer notice; or
  • use any part of the platform for a commercial purpose without our prior written permission.

We may investigate suspected breaches, preserve records, remove content and report the matter to the appropriate authority.

12. Intellectual property

All content on the platform — editorial articles, comparison tables and their selection and arrangement, calculator logic, illustrations, iconography, page design, the YouBankingBuddy name, logo and the marks “Compare · Calculate · Decide” and “The Money Memo” — is owned by or licensed to Catalyst Web Trendz Pvt. Ltd. and protected by the Copyright Act, 1957, the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and applicable international law.

You may read, print and share our pages for your own personal, non-commercial use, and you may quote a short extract in a review, article or social post provided you attribute it to YouBankingBuddy and link to the original page. Everything else — republication, systematic copying, translation, adaptation, resale, training an automated model on our content, or use in a competing comparison service — requires our prior written permission. Write to info@catalystwebtrendz.com; we usually say yes to genuine editorial reuse.

13. Third-party links, partner sites and trademarks

The platform links to bank, NBFC, insurer, AMC, regulator and news websites. Those sites are not under our control. We do not endorse, verify or accept responsibility for their content, security, availability, cookies or the products they sell, and following such a link is at your own risk. Read the destination site's own terms and privacy policy before submitting anything to it.

Names of banks, NBFCs, insurers, asset management companies and card networks are used purely descriptively, to identify the products being compared. All such names and marks belong to their respective owners. We do not display third-party logos or brand artwork; the crests on our comparison tables are neutral shapes we authored. Their use does not imply any affiliation, sponsorship, partnership or endorsement unless we have expressly stated that an institution is a partner.

14. Availability of the platform

We aim to keep the platform available continuously, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may suspend, withdraw, restrict or amend all or part of the platform — including any comparison, calculator or article — at any time and without notice, for maintenance, security, commercial or legal reasons. We may also discontinue a feature entirely. We are not liable for any loss arising from unavailability.

15. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the platform and all content on it are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, currency or non-infringement.

In particular, we do not warrant that any rate, fee, feature or eligibility criterion shown is current or will be honoured; that any institution will contact you, approve your application or offer the terms displayed; that any calculator output will match a lender's own computation; or that the platform will be free of errors, omissions, interruptions or harmful components. Nothing in this section limits any right you have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Indian law, neither Catalyst Web Trendz Pvt. Ltd. nor its directors, officers, employees or contractors shall be liable for:

  • any indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss, including loss of profit, business, opportunity, savings, goodwill or data;
  • any loss arising from a decision to apply for, accept, decline or exit a financial product;
  • the rejection, delay, mispricing or withdrawal of any application by an institution, or the conduct, solvency, service quality or recovery practices of any institution;
  • any inaccuracy in third-party data, published schedules or partner-supplied information that we have reproduced in good faith;
  • the performance of any investment, the settlement of any insurance claim, or any tax consequence; or
  • unauthorised access to your data resulting from a cause outside our reasonable control, including your own disclosure of credentials.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our aggregate liability to you in respect of all claims arising out of or in connection with the platform is limited to ₹5,000 (rupees five thousand), that being a reasonable sum given that the service is provided to you free of charge. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or any liability that cannot be excluded under Indian law.

17. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Catalyst Web Trendz Pvt. Ltd., its directors, officers and employees from and against any claim, demand, proceeding, loss, liability, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these terms, your submission of false or third-party information without consent, your infringement of any intellectual property or privacy right, or your unlawful use of the platform.

18. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the platform, remove content you have submitted, and decline to process or refer any enquiry, immediately and without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, submitted fraudulent information, or exposed us or another user to legal or security risk. You may stop using the platform at any time, and may ask us to close any profile and erase your data under the Privacy Policy. Sections 12, 15, 16, 17, 20 and 21 survive termination.

19. Grievance redressal and consumer complaints

Complaints about the platform, about content on it, or about the handling of your enquiry should be addressed to our Grievance Officer, appointed under rule 3(2) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 and section 13 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

  • Grievance Officer — YouBankingBuddy, c/o Catalyst Web Trendz Pvt. Ltd. [Name of the officer to be inserted by the company before publication.]
  • Address — D 29, 2nd Floor, Greater Kailash Enclave 2, Greater Kailash, New Delhi – 110048
  • Emailinfo@catalystwebtrendz.com
  • Phone and WhatsApp+91-9953590779 / wa.me/919953590779
  • Hours — Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM IST

We acknowledge every grievance within 24 hours and dispose of it within 15 days. Complaints about a loan, card, policy or investment itself must go to the institution concerned; escalation from there lies to the RBI Integrated Ombudsman, the IRDAI Bima Bharosa portal or SEBI SCORES, as the case may be, and we will point you to the right one. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, including the right to approach the consumer commission having jurisdiction, are unaffected by these terms.

20. Governing law, jurisdiction and dispute resolution

These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, the platform or its subject matter — whether contractual or non-contractual — are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.

The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute amicably through the Grievance Officer within 30 days of written notice. Failing that, the dispute shall be referred to arbitration by a sole arbitrator appointed by mutual agreement under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The seat and venue of arbitration shall be New Delhi, the language shall be English, and the award shall be final and binding. Subject to the above, the courts at New Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing in this section prevents a consumer from pursuing a remedy before a consumer commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

21. Changes to these terms, and general provisions

Changes. We may revise these terms when the law changes or our service changes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the version in force, and material changes are announced on the site and in The Money Memo at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the platform after that date means you accept the revised terms.

Severability. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.

No waiver. A delay or failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.

Assignment. You may not assign your rights under these terms. We may assign ours to a successor of the business on notice to you.

Force majeure. We are not liable for failure or delay caused by an event beyond our reasonable control, including network or power failure, act of God, epidemic, civil disturbance, or an order of a government or regulator.

Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the platform, and supersede all previous understandings.

Language. These terms are published in English. Any translation is provided for convenience; in the event of conflict, the English version prevails.

Section 3, in short

The four things we are not

Everything in these terms follows from this. We are a comparison desk. The money, the decision and the contract all sit with the institution.

Not a lender

We hold no banking or lending licence, we never take custody of your money, and we cannot sanction, price, disburse or reject an application.

Not an adviser

Nothing here is a personal recommendation. Speak to a SEBI-registered investment adviser before you invest, and to a qualified professional on tax and legal questions.

Not an insurer

Cover, exclusions, waiting periods, underwriting and claim settlement are entirely the insurer's. We only explain and compare what it has published.

Not paid by you

The platform is free. Partners pay us a flat referral fee on a completed case, and that fee is never an input to a ranking, a sort or a default order.
